It is Exchange 2003 feature. I think you have only one Exchange 2003 back-end server, so, all internal mail delivery happens on the level of information store. IS doesn't use SMTP for local delivery. As a result message doesn't have SMTP header and Outlook
doesn't show sender's SMTP e-mail address. It is Outlook behavior by design.

The User can see the email ID if the sender belongs to same Domain or external domain , But cannot see the email ID if send from other domains hosted with in the same Exchange Server.

Display Name is shown by default, but if you right-click in outlook on the contacts in the From / To / CC fields, and select Outlook properties, you can find the email address in the appropriate tab.
If you would like the email address to be shown all the time, a workaround is to add the email address as part of the Display Name, for example "FirstName LastName (f.LastName@domain.com)". As a consequence, the email addresses of users will be part of all
the replies/forwards of the same thread.
Hope this helps,

Even if i right click i am not able to see the email ID , its shows blank. The problem only with same domains in the same server , any outside domains its fine .only the work around is to go to option and look at the header

We have the same problem. As anyone found a way to solve this yet?
Is there a way to force it to use smtp to route through the local information store? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
SMTP Virtual Server

Microsoft did. Exchange 2007 uses SMTP to route all messages through HUB server. Even when you send email to yourself.
Is there a way to force it to use SMTP to route through the local information store?
1. Upgrade to Exchange 2007
2. Write your own Exchange 2003 IS event sink to route sent message through SMTP.
