I would like know the best way of moving the field 'Category' from being recorded against individual Ads and instead being recorded against individual users. The user would record their Category once when they sign-up and then the Catgeory would be displayed
against every Ad that they created. Category still needs the normal validation against the Category table. Is this a difficult change ? The use of Users versus Members is a bit confusing to me. Should the User table or Members table be expanded ?
First post but would appreciate your feedback.

Not sure i followed you, Could you please provide an example.
From what i understand, you would like to display "some name" with each ad rather than the "user id". is this right?

I want to attach the 'Categories' field, which in the standard template is attached to the Ad (i.e. the user selects the Category each time a new Ad is created) to the User instead. When a new User is created then the User would select a Category from the
Categories table. The category for the Ad would then be dependant on the Category of the User that created it.
Hope this makes sense.

Before i attempt to answer, let me get this right.
I believe that you are trying to limit the user to post ads only in one category (i.e., the category the user registered with)?

Exactly. The User would have a Category assigned as part of the sign-in (and modified as part of their profile) which would then be automatically assigned to each Ad that they created. They wouldn't have to select a Category when they create an Ad.
