VS2005 should have converted the file format - did you have all the solution files or just the components deployed to a web site?

Based on your description, I understand that you have copied all files in wwwroot folder. I would like to know if you have missed an important thing: to create a virtual directory for this web application. In addition, please make sure the ASP.NET version
has been set to 1.1.4322.
We can confirm the ASP.NET version of Vistual Directory by the following steps:
In IIS manager, right click the Virtual Directly and select Properties, check the ASP.NET version in ASP.NET tab.
By the way, you needn’t install Visual Studio 2003 in your machine. However, .NET Framework 1.1 must be installed.
