The lengthy pause in Visual Studio occurs only ONCE, the first time AFTER you install any VSI. Just be patient. Go for a walk. :) It will eventually sort itself out (really it just needs time to deal with the newly installed templates)... From then on you'll
be able to use a that dialog with no delay. It's freaky and unsettling but it's best to just let it do its thing that one time and then you'll be fine. Trust me.

Thanks for the tip. It sure did take a long time, but it worked. I guess I'd assumed after a few minutes that VS was totally locked, but not so.

I had exactly this problem, and after leaving it chugging away after lunch it still seemed to be no further. I'm going to leaving it running over night tonight.
