I created a website using the classified ad kit. I set up users and set me as admin. In fact, I created 2 admin accounts. Locally everything works fine. On the server however, it does not let me log in or register. When I try to log in it acts like
I have provided an ircorrect user name or pasword. If I try to create a new user, I get this:
An error occurred. Please contact the
I have had my server admin look everything over and so far he has not figured it out either. I think that for some reason the database are not being accessed properly like they are read only or something. Not sure though. Any ideas?

There are several posts in this forum that address setting up the database for the Classifieds Starter Kit. I recommend using the search box at the top of this page to find what your looking for. Be sure to include " AND (sectionid:1021)" in your search
so that your results are limited to posts in the Classifieds forum.
Try typing in this search to get started:
connection string AND (sectionid:1021)

I am using the default connection settings from the kit.
<add name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider, System.Web, Version=22.214.171.124, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" connectionStringName="LocalSqlServer" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true"
requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true" applicationName="/" requiresUniqueEmail="true" passwordFormat="Hashed" maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="5" minRequiredPasswordLength="7" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="1" passwordAttemptWindow="10" passwordStrengthRegularExpression=""/>
I tried several others from the forum and they crashed the site bigtime. Of course they would not run locally but they crashed on the server too. At least with the default I could open the main page and view ads. The others all prevented even the main
page from opening. After trying one of those other strings my site crashed and now I can't get it to load even after puting the original web.config file back.
My problem is not that the site does not run but rather that for some reason I can't log in to it. I set up 2 accounts, both of which have admin rights. Both work fine locally. In fact everything works fine locally. I uploaded the site and I can't log
in to that remote site. It responds as if I don't have the right password or user name. Is this a connection issue? I am able to view ads on the server. I just can't log in or register.

Thanks for that search tip. I was able to find another with the very same problem.
If this site had a better search engine I would have found it much sooner. Why they don't have a search by section I can't imagine but that "AND (sectionid:1021)" provides that I guess.
I don't have server access to make the changes I need so now I am just waiting for the admin to do it. Tanks again for the help.
