This might not be the most correct forum to post this issue, but as most real Exchange specialists are here I'll give it a try anyway.
I have this client with a strange request. He wants his reply address (so primary e-mail address) to be
email@example.com. But hisdomain.com isn't hosted on our HMC cluster but on a remote mailserver (not in our datacenter). Against all RFC's, but you know ... When people reply to the message (send mail to
firstname.lastname@example.org) their message arrives correctly on the other mailserver. Only when of the collegues of my clients sends a mail (from the exchange server) to the
email@example.com address, the mail is delivered locally. I've tried everyting I could find on technet, but nothing worked out for me.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321721 <= didn't solve my problem :(
Anyone who can give me a silver bullet :)

Silver bullet doesn't exist for your situation. It is Exchange 2003 behavior by design. You can try next configuration, but it just my thoughts ;-)
