In my last project I was using VS 2005, SQL 2005 and a dataset.xsd to retrieve and execute sproc. It was very easy and clean.
Now I want to do the same but using MySql Server 5. Using the mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.14 I am able in Server Explorer of visual studio to establish the connection and see my database and tables. But if i try to drag a table in the dataset.xsd I get an
Error: 42000 MySql ODBC 3.51 Driver mysqld-5.0.37-community-nt-nt you have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that correspond to your MySql Server version for the right syntax to use near .......at line 1
Nothing is wrong with my database, I am using EMS Manager client and it is fine.
The next I tried is to install mysql-connector-net-5.0.6 with MySql Tool for Visual Studio (Visual Studio Plugin) to try to resolve the problem. Now in Server Explorer I can add a connection with MySql Database Data Source and data provider .Net FrameWork
Data provider for Mysql .
But when i tried to drag a table to the dataset.xsd nothing happen . I can open the table, introduce data, create sproc..ect but I cannot use Dataset feature.
I know the database is ok becuase I have used Msql.Data.ddl to retrieve data in the traditional way and works.
Then?? Do you know if is possible to use Dataset with Mysql and how ???? I do not know what to do next, I have being searching the net and I cannot find a solution.
Thank you very much

If I understand your post, you are trying to "drag" a table from the Server Explorer in order to allow the wizard to create a DataTable and DataAdapter for you.
I don't think any of us can support this feature working or not working. You may need to go to the MYSQL forums.
Alternatively, you can manually create your tables and tableadapters by right clicking anywhere in the Dataset.xsd designer.
Hope this helps!

Thank you. Finally I could manage to create dataAdapters and table adapter by hands using the connector/net plus the plugin.
I also managed to populate combobox and other controls. Good enough.
Though I need to find out why I cannot drag the table directly on the DataSet file. it should be possible to do that.

MAlex001, I would like to implement the same funtionality that you did - to connect to MySQL through DataSet.xsd.
I already have MySql.Data.dll in my bin folder - and I can programatically connect to MySQL. But when I try to connect through Dataset.xsd I stunble in very beginning, where I need to define connection to MySQL.
You example would very appreciated.
