I have a need to migrate from 2003 to 2005 and the single page assemblies. I have imported my 2003 project into 2005 and have it up and running as a web application project. At least that is what I am assuming since when I look at the properties for the
project, I get a completely different properties dialog and I don't see any options for single page assemblies like I do on a standard "Web Site" project in 2005.
Anyway, I have everything working in 2005 and now I'm wondering what the best approach will be to get my existing site migrated to a Web Site project.
I have started down the path of simply adding a new website to the solution via the context menu in solution explorer and then copying a few things over and trying to test things out.
First of all, I had to go in and replace the "codebehind" reference to "codefile" and adjust the inherits attribute to not contain my original project name. I added in appropriate references for my test pages and things appear to be working, but now I'm
wondering if I am going about this the right way. I see 2 extra files in the new Web Site tree named page.aspx.designer.vb and page.aspx.resx.
Are these doing anything for me?
I read a little about the designer page and it seems like this is a necessary file but shouldn't it be contained underneath the appropriate page as a sub-node in the tree?
Right now it is at the same level in the tree as the page.aspx file and the .resx file is at that same level also. Now that I'm typing this, I just noticed that the "Web Form Designer Generated Code" region is still in my page.aspx.vb file. Shouldn't that
be removed also?
Can anyone help me find a direction here?
I'ts gonna be tedious to migrate the project over, but I'd like a little confirmation that this is not going to be a waste of time. Hope this post isn't too long but I figured I needed to include everything up there...(actually there is a little more but
this is good for now)

If you want to convert directly from VS 2003 to a web-site (rather than a web application) after installing SP1, refer to my reply to SteveBoucher in this thread:
It may help. Hope so [:)]
