I have a web project written in asp.net 2.0 -vb.net.
I need to add a login page and allow access only to users who are specified under a folder called BirthPreparation in the active directory.
I want to also use web.config-maybe store the active directory path in the web.config (like i do with the connectionstring).
I have zero experience with active directory and i'm not sure how to carry out that task. How do i check if the username, password, domain are ok and if to authenticate that user? Also, if that user is not authenticated how do i prevent access to other pages
in the project?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Try looking in http://www.codeproject.com for articles such as
http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/Wrapper_API.asp - these show how to check that a user is known to AD.
http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/ADAM_and_LDAP_ClientNet.asp. You may well find that ADAM will isolate you from some of the intracacies of LDAP access to AD.
