There are a few things to consider. If you have the bandwidth and/or have access to bandwidth you can choose either building your own server by buying the components or you can go with a Dell (is my preference). I am not saying HP isn't any good. Based
on readings, HP is better; however, the ads keep pushing Dell.
If you do not have the bandwidth, I would recommend going with a dedicated server. Personally, you may be money ahead and they already have all the redundancies in place for power and bandwidth. I am using GoDaddy for my dedicated server and I run a website
hosting and e-mail hosting company. I weighed the options and for the horsepower I needed, GoDaddy was much cheaper to go with. My server costs about $145/mo. with the specs I wanted.
The best option for you would be to go for a VPS server or a Dedicated server. That way you really do not have to take care of the power backups, configuring your server etc. I don't think it would matter much whether you go for HP, Dell or IBM, the configuration
of server machine is more important. Talk to some datacenter guys and let them explain to you the servers they are offering and which one would be better for you. They usually have a pre-sales chat or help where you can get all the help you need.
2500 would pay for a couple of years of VPS hosting... I'd go with what was suggested above rather than try to host your own. The bandwidth alone would kill all of your money if there were alot of people using your site.

FAQ on the correct forum http://forums.asp.net/p/1337412/2699239.aspx#2699239
If you come across an old thread on the forum that you think you might have answer for, we ask that you
don't provide an answer for that old thread.
What this? Don't answer the question?! Yes, that's right.
When you reply to an old thread in a forum, that old thread finds its way back to the top of the forum list. This causes a more recent thread to fall off the bottom of the list and move to page 2 (or 3 or 4 etc...). This reduces the number
of members that might see and possibly answer the question posed in that newer thread. If you have time to provide answers to any forum questions (thank you!), please stick to the forums more recent threads. There's a member still waiting behind that recent
question hoping for some help.

At the end of the day you can please yourself. But people do get anti.I struck the same situation and it didnt turn out so pleasent.

Now I didn't know that we need to see the dates on each post before answering them. I have seen the note that you are referring to and it does specifically say that we should not answer old posts. But it does not say how old is old.

What do mean by manage about 100 sport leagues? Are you talking about websites, computers, companies? If it is sites and not much traffic, a single machine will be fine. If lots of traffic, I would recommend either clustering or splitting the sites across
the multiple servers. If computers as in setting up a domain, there's quite a bit that will need to be set up, but a single machine can do it. I, though, would recommend another server to be the secondary.

Just a wee note guys. Is there any point in answering a post that is pretty much a year old?
When you post on an old forum it brings it back from the dead. It is now in the top of the forums when realisticly it does not need to be..

it was already bumped to the top when I had answered it... I didn't even realize how old it was until you pointed it out.
In reality it doesn't really matter, not sure why you felt the need to bump it yet again if it bothers you so much though.
