I have installed Microsot Visual Studio .NET 7.0 on my system. I am trying to create a new web application. The following error occurs.
Unable to create webproject 'WebApplication1'.Could not find a web server at "localhost" on Port80. Please check to make sure that the web server name is valid and your proxf settings are set correctly. If you are sure that everthing is correct, the web server
may be temporarily out of service.
What should I do so that I can create a web application. Thank you.

You need to have IIS and Front Page Server Extensions on your computer. This means you must have a "pro" operating system, i.e. not XP Home Edition.
Go to Start--> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs
Click on Add/remove Windows Components on the left side of the "Add or Remove Programs" window.
You should have an option for a component labeled "Internet Information Services (IIS)", you want to check that, click the 'details' button and check the "FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions" box. Click Ok, and click OK again.
If you are setting up on Windows 2003, IIS appears under the "Application Server" group of components, instead of as a top-level component.
Click Next. You'll most likely need the disk for the operating system, unless you have all of the files from the disk on your hard drive.

That's the autorun feature of the disc. Just close that window, and there should be another window behind it that lets you browse for a location. Just choose your cd/dvd-rom drive where you inserted the disc, and the installation should finish by itself.
When the install is done, it should ask you to restart your computer; if not, restart it after the install, anyway.
