As above, I want to instantiate and use a User Control as if it were in a page, i.e. all it's events (Load() etc...) fire as they would normally. The only diff is I want to do this within a HttpHandler, and just return the results of the ascx file.
The goal I am trying to achieve is to able to instantiate and run a user control through the Handler without going near the Page object. I am wanting to avoid the overhead involved in using the Page object, taking it back to basics and just using a basic

If you are wanting to avoid page overhead what do you think you've accomplished by just calling a user control, which also has events and overhead? What are you trying to do that you think page overhead is too high?

How about using static method, if you convert your method to static, you can avoid instantiate overhead.
