I was wondering if a Windows Host should also offer Unix based (php, perl, mysql etc) componnents on the same server?
I think PHP, MySQL and other unix stuff takes a lot of resources, why windows based hosts do this, instead of dedicating ALL the servers resources to the MS technology?
Please share your opinions.

Without any doubt, running php, mysql and perl on linux server is better and faster than on Windows Server. The only advantage of running those staff in Windows server is to provide additional options for clients to run their sites on the same server. About
mysql, some .NET developer still using it instead of SQL server so i think it is an important feature on windows server. For Perl, it is dangerous on windows due to secutiry issues and we don't support it at HostingFest and other hosting companies.
If you want to host php site then go with linux server but if you have an account on windows server that supports php then i think better you save money and run your scripts on the same account.
