I have installed Visual Studio 2005 and .NET framework 2.0 after the installation of IIS on Windows XP Pro and all works.
I need to use ASP.NET 1.1 at work, and I need to install Visual Studio 2003 on the same machine: here come the problem after i've installed Visual Studio 2003, whenever I try to create a Web Application project (with VS 2003) a message appears:
"The Web server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web project located at the following URL: 'http://localhost/WebApplication1'. 'The server name or address could not be resolved'."
and the creation of the project is blocked.
So I've tried to reregister IIS with the 1.1 framework launching the command "aspnet_regiis -i" from the .NET framework 1.1 folder and then rebooting my computer, but the problems remains the same.
I need to use on the same machine the two frameworks (1.1 and 2.0) and the two Visual Studio versions (2003 and 2005)
What can I do?
Thanks for any help.

Try to ping localhost from CMD prompt:
If that is fine, check if the Windows Firewall has exclusion for VS 2003 (and add one if there is not).
