I know this problem has been covered repeatedly, but there never seems to be a solution - I did get help from ScottGu @ MS during the beta phase, and he expected it to be fixed in the RTM...
I have run into this same problem several times and its hit me again today. I have a relatively simple precompled project - non-updatable, single assembly, signed web deployment project, and all login pages result in the 'has not been pre-compiled error'.
I'm testing on a clean test PC (Win XP) with IIS installed, and I have copied the exact output of the deployment project release folder to my test PC.
Does anybody know what I can do to diagnose this? I can send my precompiled project as a zip if necessary.

Ok - I've worked this out - and it was my fault, however its a terrible error as it has nothing to do with the problem...
I deployed without combining into a single assembly, and found I had not got a dll on my test PC that is on my dev PC, which was shown very helpfully by .Net as an error on the page. I guess this is a JIT compilation error so it wouldnt get caught in the
precompiled site, but it makes it impossible to debug problems on client installs and results in a very unhelpful error.
