If i understand you correct, yes that is possible.
As long as you can access the IP address, you can get to your website.
The url should look like this http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/<virtual directory name>/
You won't need the virtual directory name if there is none.

As a follow up, if your DNS records are correctly configured, you should be able to access the web site by name as well as IP from your LAN as well as the internet.

What account is running the iis service? It sounds like it may be permissions of the actual website files. Check the NTFS permissions and the account that is running the iis service.

atlast i am able to access the webapplication through System IP address... here are the step you have to follow for accessing through sys IP:
Click on Start--> Run-->type in textbox 'Inetmgr', to open IIS .
click on Websites-->Default Websites --> YourWebApplicationName
browse through your application virtual directory.
right click on WebApplication and select PROPERTIES.
click on 'Directory Security' Tab
In 'Anonymous Access and Authentication Control' click on EDIT .
Check the checkbox 'Anonymous Access' and uncheck remaining all (except Allow IIS to control password, Let it be checked)
Click Ok. again OK.
now open control panel-->Windows Firewall
click on Exceptions Tab.
Click on Add Port. Enter Name: IIS and Port Number : 80 Click Ok.again Click OK.
now open IE and enter your system IP :
it shoud show IIS default page or "Under Construction page"
if any other output check from step1 to step 10 and properties of virtual directory.

I have a folder named "Webs" in which I have placed sub folders of my application.
All these folders are listed under "Default Website" in IIS.
Now, I cannot proceed from step2 onwards.
My problem is that I can access my application when I type "http://localhost" but
I am not able to get the application when I type the IP address. So, I cannot access the app on a LAN
I am an amateur in ASP .
