I just want to help anyone who is going through what I have gone through to find an alternative the default ASP.net providers.
I am developing a website with a MySQL database and wanted to take advantage of the asp.net membership and role providers so I wouldn't have to code all my login/logout code and be able to use the all the login controls(loginstatus, loginview, etc.) that
make creating a membership based site easier to do.
So basically I found a MySQL alternative for Membership and roles found here:
It is very straightforward, you simply have to create some MySQL tables, modify your web.config and you're set
I didn't find a MySQL profile provider that worked for me(I found: http://www.codeproject.com/cs/database/ASPNet_20.asp but I couldn't get it to work, maybe you can).
But I did find the next best thing, at TextFileProfileProvider that stores the user information in a text file in your App_Data directory and it's on the MSDN website:
I hope this helps....

I just tried to open that URL for sprinj.com but it no longer works. Can you send me what you have so I can do this for my MySQL Roles/Users? Thanks.

I guess using the .net connector for MySQL can help. It will auto configure the database to use with Membership. Use ASP.net wesite configuration tool in Visual Studio to change the provider.
Download connector from here

I guess I wasn't clear about what I am trying to do. I have the ability to use VS.net to change the provider. That isn't the problem. What I need to do is to have a remote deployable role/user config tool like the asp.net website config tool in asp.net.
I've seen this done for asp.net with SQL Server but not asp.net with MySQL. Does anyone have anything like that?
