I am using VS2003 on XP.
When I create a new project, it wants to add it to c:\inetpub\wwwroot, however That is unfortunately where an application is running. I would like to choose a different directory such as c:\websites to place the new application, but when I Browse for the
location of the file to the c:\websites directory, the OK button is disabled. Is there a way to do this?

Have you configured the new location as an application in IIS?

In Internet Information Services>Web Sites>Default Web Site >New>Virtual Directory
I created an application called TESTsite with the home directory of c:\websites and
OOOOH, I have to use the path http://localhost/TESTsite. I think I got it now. I thought I could use the path of the folder and not the url to the new application.
Hopefully this will work.
Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

Actually, I am having a conflict with my applications. I have a websites contents in c:\inetpub\wwwroot which has the url
http://localhost and the new site I put in c:/websites/testsite has the url
http://localhost/testsite. When I browse to
http://localhost testsite, I get an reference errors to/from the
http://localhost application. Is there any way around this without putting my
http://localhost application in its own virtual directory? Sorry for the confusion.
