UnauthorizedAccessException: General access denied error
Here's my settings -
ASP.NET Framework 2.0
The app logs into AD as a user with rights to do updates on the AD (new DirectoryEntry(url, user, password))
The app is NOT set to impersonate.
When I access the app through browser on remote client, I can update some personal info settings. My id is an admin on the box
Another user does the same thing and tries to update and throws the error mentioned.
Not sure why this - According to Ryans book I am using the best approach (unless I am reading it wrong). Using a predetermined set of credentials should bypass the double hop issue but apparently not.

Page 293 baby!
Can you clarify what you mean by service account? It could have different meanings according to context.
Let me ask this - if I call the DirectorySearcher like this:
private DirectoryEntry GetInitDirectoryEntry()
Now when I use:
Is that entry (from SearchResult collection) not bound by the credentials?

I am using .NET 2.0., IIS 5.0, Win2K.. many ASP.NET apps sharing IIS....
Checked and rechecked credentials.. they are the same. I am thinking that if it was adopting my security, I would experience the double hop issue?
