Well it appears that Kevin and Dave posted at the same time. I hope Kevin's post answers the issues Dave brought up.
I just wanted to post that we have updated the
DAL II site. It is less about me and more about hashing out all ideas on the DAL. I put up the goals and use cases that still need to be argued over so please head on over and put in your $0.02 cents.
I have been exchanging emails with numerous people over the past few days. Right now I see two main "schools of thought".
Dave - Simplify the DAL. reduce the amount of code. Still require the module developer to compile a separate data provider. Chance of success - Excellent.
Kevin - Eliminate the need of the module developer to compile a separate provider. One provider written for each database supported would handle all the issues. Chance of success - Questionable.
I am supporting Kevin's method. I hope we can get this to work. I do appreciate the improvements that Dave's method provides.
