To be accurate, both WCF and ASMX will be supported after .NET 5 is released.They will be included in .NET 4.8 and that will be supported as a component of the OS that they are installed on.
If you are concerned that new versions of VS might one day no longer provide tooling support for ASMX or WCF, keep the previous version as well as installing any new versions. VS caters for side-by-side installation. Personally, I think it's highly unlikely
that you would need to worry about this for the foreseeable future. There are zillions of pre-.NET Core apps that still need to be maintained (like yours).
