As far as I know, these tt files are important in EDMX. I suggest you do not to delete it. because it could affect the generation of other files in some cases.
Before vs2012 sp1, when we create a new EDMX generated from the database, it can correctly generate all the tt files, but when we update the table structure from the database, it could not correctly update the tt file. To create Model1.edmx as an example,
in the solution Expand Model1.edmx,
Right-click Model1.Context.tt and click Run Custom Tool.
Then right click on Model1.tt and click on Run Customizer. After these two steps, the file will be generated correctly according to the EDMX structure.
