I really hate the Web Platform Installer 3.0. It is incredibly buggy and simply doesn't work properly in multiple Windows environments. I've invested mountains of time fighting it. It failed to work on Windows Vista so I eventually went to an XT (SP3)
machine but I got a very similar error message after two very long (hours) installation attempts:
"We're sorry. SQL Server Express 2008 R2 - This product did not install successfully." No explanation was given for WHY the install failed in these 2 completely separate Windows environments.
I don't have these types of install setbacks in my Apple Mac environment. I wish I could work with Apple Mac in my business development. The whole environment seems so less buggy.
Is there a way to install SQL Server Express 2008 R2 without relying on this rediculous Web Platform Installer tool?
(I don't have a third Windows environment to try yet again this failed install tool.) Thank you,
