Thank you for your helpful reply. I think I have a better picture of what is going on now. :) I have just one more question, just to confirm that I completely understand everything (or am totally off base). So given a single forest/tree/domain architecture
DOMAIN.LOCAL, a server will be represented in DNS as SERVERNAME.DOMAIN.LOCAL regardless of what OU it is contained in within the domain hierarchy. E.g. SERVER1 located in OU=group2 inside of OU=group1 and SERVER2 located just in OU=group1 will have DNS names
SERVER1.DOMAIN.LOCAL and SERVER2.DOMAIN.LOCAL respectively (i.e. the OU's don't matter).
