The SqlDataSource is great to get something going pretty fast, and might be interesting for small projects as well. When you start to get serious you will prefer to create da Business Logic Layer (BLL) that will encapsulate your business rules. This BLL
may be linked to the page in the same way of SqlDataSource, only you will use the ObjectDataSource instead. It is still going to do a lot automatically for you (passing parameters and stuff) but you can debug your BLL and check what's being passed. This is
a long story but there's a great tutorial about it on this site.
