I cannot help you with #1, but hopefully this post helps with #2. It appears as though excelBook.Save(); will save the workbook to a default filename "Book1.xls". I don't know how much benefit this is, as you are limited to the Book1.xls filename. I never
saw a dialog prompting me for a filename, although with excelApp.Save();, I did get the dialog just as you mentioned.
I only stumbled across this post after searching for a way to write data from my app to an excel file, and I must say, the documentation is sparse and poorly documented where it's present.
I hope you got some benefit out of the above code. Let me know if you find what you need, as I, too, would like to know how to do it.
