I realize this post is really old, but hopefully someone will listen :-)
However, on a login page you can choose to ignore this return url and use your own custom logic. Call FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie to issue the forms authentication cookie. Then you can issue your own redirect logic for the user.
Where would I put this custom logic?
I'm having this issue, where the session and cookie time-out at same time. So when a timeout happens, user is obviously redirected to the login page. When they log back in, they are redirected to the page they were on, but then get a session timeout error
because the session variables have not been set up yet.
Is there a better way to achieve what I'm doing. Should I set session timeout longer than cookie timeout?
