Thanks for your offer of help.
I have also enjoyed learning Visual web developer and am just dissapointed at how difficult it has been getting it connecting to a database.
anyway.... on to your questions:
my service provider has Plesk.... (my service providers managment tool)
I can create unlimited SQL databases in this...... manualy, there is also a VERY slow feature for adding tables... manualy
When you say do they provide the SQL Server... im not sure what you mean...
I have a copy of 'Sql Server Management Express'
I am able to access the database (that i have manually created on the server using plesk) using Sql Server Management Express tool
I can make tables using Sql Server Management Express.... this does update the database on the server.
I dont know how to import or 'attach' tables and queries(created in vis web developer) into the database using Sql Server Management Express
If I knew how to upload or attach the .mdf to the manually created database that would be a great help.
and now back to Visual Web Developer..... and another approach....
I CAN make a connection to a database (that i have manually created on my server using plesk) using visual web developer!!!!
However, although the tables are visible in visual web developer, grid view and details view etc will not connect and display any data.
the connected database appears under the database management tab of visual web developer...tables and all.....
it does not appear in App_Data folder.
I can do all the usual things with visual web developer 'locally' using the inbuilt 'server' that was installed when I installed vis web dev.
database, grid view details view, file upload etc...... Im using Visual Basic.
So.... thats what Ive got so far.....
Thanks for your offer of help....[cool]
