I have quite a few domains hosted under one account with 1and1 hosting. Up till now I have been using VS2003 and I could open up all of my websites in a single project or split them into different projects. I worked on the files directly on the webserver
so when I clicked Save in VS it was instantly visible on the internet. If I had a aspx page I clicked Build and it worked just fine. I had one dll in my Bin folder. Each of my domains is a subfolder of my root but there was still just one Bin folder.
I "upgraded" to VS2005 and it ran me through a wizard. I created a website on my local harddrive and brought all of my files locally. I can run the website using the local VS2005 webserver that fires up and my ASPX pages work just fine. Then when I use
the Copy Website tool to add my new webforms they no longer work. I get "The resource cannot be found". I am not crazy about making changes locally and then having to copy everything to see it on the internet but I could deal with it if everything else worked.
I have read about the new "Web Application Project" that I can install and convert my website to. Is this what I want to do? I just want the enhanced code editor and some of the new controls. Everything else was fine and I don't know why Microsoft had
to "fix" it.
I am afraid to convert to a web application project since I have live customer websites and I don't want to break anything. Please help.
