I have a Dotnet Core v1.0 application written in Visual Studio 2015 and I need to add WCF Connected Service in my application but I cannot find a way to do it in Visual Studio. I tried to add it by following the directions found in articles online but
they don't work. For example I tried the instructions from the link below and they don't work:
The problem is the Extension and Updates window does not contain the Visual Studio WCF Connected Service extension option. Can someone please help point me to an article that can
help. Thanks in advance.

this a feature of visual studio 2017 v 15.5
note: if you are doing asp.net core, either use visual studio code or the free version of visual studio 2017 / 2019

Hi Bruce, I too have the same issue as the person above. I have been given a Dotnet Core app written in Visual Studio 2015 to support and I would like to switch to the new version of Visual Studio or use Visual Studio Code but I cannot. I was told that the
creator of the app used the method in the following link to add WCF Connected Service but it was later removed for some reason:
I have tried to follow the directions in the blog but it doesn't work as I could not find the option in the Visual Studio Extensions Gallery as shown in the blog.

We could not find the Visual Studio WCF Connected Service extension any more.
I recommend that you could refer to this tutorial to Use the WCF Web Service Reference Provider Tool which needs to upgrade your vs to
vs 2017 15.5 or later version.

I was facing the same issue and I updated my VS 2017 version tot he latest one. Now it has that WCF connected Services by default and we no longer need an extension. Cheers!!!!
