likely I already proposed this in the past through some way or another but I would like to plead for it again.
Instead of having mails sent to my mail box, which is already congested, I would like to be able to subscribe to a thread and get a notification when someone answered it. At the moment I see when I got a private message next to the Search textbox. Clicking
that I would be redirected to an overview of threads I'm interested in.
I know there's a feature like "Favorite threads" but that just doesn't cut it and isn't really that user friendly for the goal I have in mind.

Thanks for the input, Kris. So are you looking for a "[ ] Notify me of activity in this thread" option? Or "[ ] Notify me when this thread has an answer"?

potentially both but that would things become more complicated. I'd rather see something like activity and I get a notification in the black upper bar.

i like getting the e-mails via my subscriptions to forums in which i'm interested.
i use Outlook 2013 and filtered them to a folder name ASP.NET.
i would not want to lose that.
What i find works very well for me that i only discovered a few months ago when someone, perhaps you, pointed me to it is the "My Threads" feature that is see via my avatar viewed below the menu bar, far right upper corner of each
forums.asp.net page, that appears on the drop down menu one sees by clicking the
Threads with new activity show bold.
Currently, i must be proactive.
one possibility, already done for our inbox, would be a somewhat similar signal, for example.
ASP.NET Home ... [
! ] [ 3 ]
The exclamation mark could indicate new activity in My Threads while the
3 indicates i've three new messages in my inbox.
