I went through this tutorial http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/mvc-5/create-an-aspnet-mvc-5-app-with-facebook-and-google-oauth2-and-openid-sign-on to
enable external log in. When I go to Log In using Google I get a 401 error, error: invalid_client, no application name.
I have SSL enabled with the SSL URL https://localhost:44300/, URL is http://localhost:52787/, and Project URL is https://localhost:44300/. I
xxxxxxxxx.apps.googleusercontent.com) and ClientSecret and turned on Google+ API.
I'm not sure if I am looking at the right value to see which version of MVC 5 I am using but I think it is assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Mvc", <bindingRedirect oldVersion="18.104.22.168-22.214.171.124" newVersion="126.96.36.199" />
If anyone can help me get Google external log in working I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the ASP.NET forum.
According to the error message, as far as I know, generally you could refer to the following steps to solve your problem.
1. Go to your
Google Cloud Console
2. Open your project
3. Click APIs & auth
4. Click Consent screen, and set EMAIL ADDRESS
