I downloaded and installed VS Express 2013. It seems working properly.
When I tried to open a database, I cannot find SQL Server Compact 4.0 in the item list.
I checked with Control Panel and see it appear on the Program List.
Can anyone help me solve this issue?
Thank you very much

Thank you for your reply.
I read the post you recommended, however, when I enter into VS Express 2013 for Web, I do not know how to do it because I am new in building MVC4.
Could you indicate me the details or show me some video or something like that.

Although I am not sure if this would help, you may want to consider installing the
SQL Server Compact Toolbox extension for Visual Studio. It makes interacting and accessing your SQL Server Compact databases much easier and will allow you to run scripts, access table information and much more.
If you explicitly need to install SQL Compact 4.0, you can download it from the following link as well :

I recommend installing SQL Express and use proper database. It will be easier in case you want to migrate to a production server with SQL server.

the quickest resolution is to have the SQL Server Compact version installed on your PC.
If you are unsure of whether it has been installed or not, simply go to your Control Panel -> Program Features and look for the SQL Compact. If you can find it, it means it has been installed and you can certainly uninstalled it too
