I am running Windows Server 2003 on my local machine. In the host file I have my site (dev.xxx.com) pointed to my local host (127.0.0.1) and when pinged it resolves successfully. It uses an SSL cert which SEEMS to be properly installed, but when I try to access
the site, I get the awful "Cannot find server or DNS" error. On the same site, I can access simple HTML text files just fine, but as soon as I try anything via the SSL, no luck.
I found this site on Microsoft, but i wanted a second opinion before I followed these steps...
I'd love to reward any help with a virtual beer which I will email promptly!

Try to use the IP address of you network card instead of the loopback one. Also, make sure your site is in the "trusted sites" and import the certificate into the "client" computers if it's not an commercial one.
