I have a personal web site starter kit that I have modiified. For the most part the default page is out of the box, yet I get inconsistent page loading. Even when I refresh the page, sometimes it is fast, sometimes painfully slow and othertimes the browser
IE 6 & 7 can't even find the page.
Other pages seem to load without problems, including ones I have added. It seems it is only the default page that is having problems...

This problem happens when the site is accessed from multiple computers. No matter where I access from, the default page load process is
very inconsistent. No other pages on the site have the problem. Could it have to do with the login or the public photo album? These are the only items that set this page apart from the rest.
Could the file size of the photo have anything to do with it? I got rid of the original album, and threw in some samples....

Since deleting the initial photo album, I have had no problems with loading of the default page. I have to assume that it was file size, one or more of the photos was corrupt or some code that has to do with how THAT album was displayed (maybe database indexing
or something) was the culprit. I have since been able to manage the photos and have had no problems at all.

There is an issue with the random image on the homepage. The way it is done causes a lot of hits to the databse, There is a fixed stored procedure posted in this forum, I'll see if I can dig it up for you.
There are two fixes on this thread

I think you nailed it, the more photos I place in this album, the slower the initial page load.
Of the two "deuling" fixes, is there a prefered method?
