When I open the default.aspx page in VS2005 the middle column of the page (About Fabrikam, Inc.) is down at the bottom of the page and the Right side column is even further down. I don't understand how to work with the page because the page in design view
does not look anything like what looks like when I run it.
Why does the default.aspx page not look the same in the designer as it does when I run the site?
What am I missing here?

The MasterPage already contains the following file but I still see the same behavior.

I had same problem, it seams that WS2005 does not recognize css in designer. Real format of page can only be viewed id run time.
Design of this template is controlled with css. You have <div id .....> tags which are defined in css. Those <div id....> tags are for
saparating parts of site and defining their look. Example <div id="content-side-2-columns"> .......</div>, so in css you can find definition
of #content-side-2-columns and redefine it.
Please sorry for my bad English.
