I want to change my hosting, currently I'm using Brinkster, I don't like the fact that I cannot create the virtual directories for ASP.NET applications myself, I have to ask the support to do this besides I can have no more than 3 virtual directories. So, I'm looking for another hosting.

I'm considering both DiscountASP and GoDaddy, the former offers a lot of interesting tech things, including ASP.NET 3.5 that me as a web developer interests a lot, the latter is cheaper and MS SQL is already included, but they are not so technically advanced.

I'm leaning towards DiscountASP because they are well known for quality ASP.NET hosting, they are the gold partner of Microsoft.

Im currently with GoDaddy... and for all they offer they sound all good and well, but to be honest when problems occur they possibly offer the worst support I have seen and they have alot of restrictions you only find out about after problems occur.  I myself checked into DiscountASP and only ever really heard good things.  Problems I encountered on the restrictive side from GoDaddy seemed solved.  I have not however tried them... but in my GoDaddy opinion they are more a Market Ploy.

My vote for discountasp. I haven't used Godaddy but I have heard many of its crying customers and hence would advise you to stay away from them.

    Thanks!

My vote is for CrystalTech.  They offer very good service.  You may also look at HostMySite.com.  They are a Gold Certified Provider as well.

In my opinion I say go with Discountasp.net. GoDaddy won't be able to give you the same high level of support that Disountasp.net offers.

Ok, I think I'll choose DiscountASP. Their support has already turned out to be faster than GoDaddy's one.

BUT you know discountasp is extreamly expensive. As I am looking a hosting package with at lease 5gb of MS SQL Server 2005 storage. Would you recommend me to go for Discountasp ?

    Well I will not

5GB of SQL 2005 will be costing much with Discountasp. They have a base plan of 1000Mb disk space costing $10/month and SQL Server 2005 as an add-on costing another $10/month for 300Mb database size + $5/month for every 50Mb additional SQL Server disk space. So total will be $10 + $10 + $470 = $490 per month!!!

I don't think you will find shared hosting with 5GB of SQL space. Buy VPS nice one will cost you $100 take a look at fullcontrol.net and you can always upgrade VPS or change it to dedicated server....

I would agree. If your looking for that much SQL space your better off getting your VPS or dedicated server.

TOMCIO is right, you need a VDS for this. I'd recommend dotnetpark.com, you'll have 10 GB of space. And it is faster than fullcontrol.net, I tested them both.

Definitely do not go with GoDaddy, both their shared and VPS Windows hostings are terrible (do not know about Linux ones however, but their support is a nightmare, so I guess their Linux is bad too.)
