I have a problem with the WebConfigurationManager's OpenWebConfiguration method. Except for opening the default Web.config file (passing in "null" as the only parameter), all other string values result in an InvalidOperationException, stating that ASP.NET can't map the path "/" (even when passing in "sure" values, like "/" or "~", and even through the MapPath method on those values works fine). But the weird thing is that it happens only when the website is viewed through the ASP.NET development server (the one you get when you debug). It works fine when using IIS.

I have that problem with both 2005 Express and 2008 Express Beta. I'm on Vista (so the IIS is 7.0). 

Any idea what could be causing this?
 

Okay, the workaround here is to run VS Web Express as an administrator, instead of just as a normal user.

Is there any hotfix available for that?
