I have downloaded and installed the most current vwdsetup.exe as well as VS80sp1-KB926751-X86-INTL.exe. I also added the AJAX controls by adding a category to the toolbox and including AjaxControlToolkit.dll, the AJAX control extenders and third party tools from ComponentArts. Things seemed to be moving along but I got a really dumb idea and added a reference to system.web.ui and nothing has worked since. I have used add remove programs then redownloaded and resinstalled numerous times without success. I can add an asp.net site but when I try to use the Ajax Control Toolkit web site I get the message Error creating control - Scriptmanager1 in design mode [of course this will not work] in source this statement has an error <%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="_Default" %> I have done everything I can to clear this out of the Visual Web developer and cannot get it done. I tried to pay MS to get me out of this mess and the support group said this forum is the only avaliable support. I have Visual Studio 2005 professional installed but think VWD is easier to use to create an ASP AJAX site. Can anyone assist me to get out of this problem?  :-)

 When I create a new site using the "AJAX Control Toolkit Web Site " template, I get an error message "Error Creating Control - ScriptManager1 Unknown server tag 'ajaxtoolkit: ToolkitScriptManager'. 

The AJAC controls are NOT in my toolbox because I cannot get them there. When I add a category to the toolbox "AJAX Tools" and then right click -> choose items -> navigate to the area where I have extracted the down loaded tools -> AjaxControlToolkit -> SampleWebSite -> bin -> AjaxControlToolkit.dll, I get an error from Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition... There was an error loading types from assembly 'C:\2005 MS Downloads\AjaxControlToolkit\SampleWebSite\Bin\AjaxControlToolkit.dll' 'Could not load file or assembly 'Syste.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyTokne=31bf385ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the specified' The point is... I have done something to the VWD environment that I cannot fixed by removing VWD and reinstalling. I think I need instructions on how to clear all the dependent software off my machine then reload the appropriate code in the proper sequence.

I sent this message with screen shots in response to a previous email to my email address but at that time I was having problems with my email account. I hope both descriptions reached you. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :-)

Have you tried deleting the ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions folder containing the source for the Ajax components? I would try that and then download the AJAX extensions again. Let me know if you've already tried that or if it doesn't work.
