    hello,

i recently signed up with a nationally known hosting company that i'll leave nameless for now. while i seem to be able to write asp and asp.net scripts within the body of a page, i cannot begin the scripts with the

    <%

@ Page Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Default.master" Title="BLAH BLAH BLAH"%> on the top line...i guess that's called the preprocessor? anyhow...i thought this was necessary. isn't it for somethings? i recall using these directives before.

     thanks

Yes the preprocessor is required for asp.net pages.  Did you enable asp.net for the website?

    hi,

yes...asp.net 2.0 shows as being enabled for the site. it was enabled by default.

i can send command like <% response.write("blah")%> and it'll work but if i put it above the head, it generates server errors.

is this normal behavior for a shared hosting provider?

    Hi,

Please double check that ASP.NET 2.0 is actually enabled from the IIS. You can ask your web host to double check it. Otherwise, there is no issue which shouldn't allow you to use pre-processors.

    Thanks!
