I really like the new Web Parts technology in ASP.NET 2.0 and I've already created a custom mashup for myself. I have created web parts to show RSS feeds, the local weather from the National Weather Service, and the online presence of my Stickam web cam chat friends using the Stickam API. So far I have had to create all my web parts myself. I was wondering if there are any pre-built web parts I could use? There ought to be a directory where you can find web parts to include in your web portal or mashup. For example, I would like an eBay web part to show me new auction listings for hard to find products. I think various companies and web sites ought to provide pre-built web parts to get their content into web portals and custom mashups. You can do a lot with RSS feeds and web services but I don't think the burden should be on the developer to create user controls for every source of information.
