Nowadays, there's really no good reason to stay with ColdFusion. Asp.Net / .Net features and functionality far exceed those of ColdFusion. Even PHP and (gasp) Java offer more. Well... maybe not Java. I put the breakdown on my site: http://comparati.com/1131-Asp-Net-vs-ColdFusion

Tying to a specific machine is done using specific ummutable properties of the machine such as its CPUID, MAC address, BIOS serial or computer name. Of the above, typically, the first three are more more prone to change and thus break your license scheme and get an angry customer. You can consider CryptoLicensing...

Take a look at CryptoLicensing for .Net ( http://www.ssware.com/cryptolicensing/cryptolicensing_net.htm ) which allows you to create cryptographic trial licenses with various parameters - usage days, unique usage days, max executions, max runtime, etc.

For the licensing part, consider CryptoLicensing ( http://www.ssware.com/cryptolicensing/cryptolicensing_net.htm ). It has UI for generating licenses, it's license service can be hosted online and this service can be queried from your software.
