Note: I had a similar problem and tried all kinds of settings on the ConnectionTimeout, none of which worked. I did finally find a solution on the following link http://www.devguru.com/technologies/ADO/8532.asp which led me to the CommandTimeout parameter. It solved my apparent connection timeout error...
