  • how often does the session get started?

Hello, I'd like to ask a question which seemed to be obvious to me just few days ago. How often does the session get started or restarted? I was logging user information to database every time the session was started in my application (in global session_started). So I got about 10000 records each...

  • Re: when should a session expire on a typical member based site

The undocumented "standard" for this has become 20 minutes for your average site. If you've got secure info, say a bank or other site which contains highly sensitive information, this would be shorter, 10 minutes for some or even as little as 5. On yet other sites which have nothing really...

  • Re: Validation of viewstate MAC failed / The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted

I have had this problem in a shared hosting environment. After testing, I discovered that I could experience this problem with even the most basic of web pages, consisting of only a couple of ASP.Net labels and an ASP.Net button. Working within a Session, the pages and site function fine. The problem...

  • Re: After porting working asp.net project to vs 2005, Response.Redirect ends Session

I know the session ends because, I do cleanups in Session_End. The response.redirect uses a session-specific path that will no longer exist, hence failure. It becomes extremely complex to maintain a web site using 2 development environments, and in addition have 2 development environments reside on the...

  • Re: Response.Redirect in VS2005 causes Session termination

I ported the app in question from vs2003. The conversion process does not set up the vs2005 environment entirely. Additionally, conversion from my impression of the forums, has a habit of dropping modules and misconverting interfaces. In fact, I had to convert the project in question twice, because a...

That is an absolute nightmare. In fact, if were not for the fact that sooner or later MS would abandon support for vs 2003 , I wouldn't ever persue this conversion avenue. Anyone else with an approach to resolve this problem? Thanks
