  • A question on the basics when deploying a website

Is there a reason why I should use the copy web site tool vs. just copying and pasting the file to IIS? I do beleive using the copy web site will make the job much easier for deployment, however is there a better reason to use this tool? Does it really matter? thx, xyz789

I know this is an old thread, but just in case someone goes searching (like I did)... I was having the same kinds of problems, and was getting really frustrated that I didn't have any control over the server, and the following link was *very* helpful: http://www.asp.net/learn/mvc/tutorial-08-cs.aspx

I have the same problem. The Web Deployment project doesn't use the web app's .csproj (or .vbproj in your case): it just looks at the file system. I'm trying to change the deployment project to use the web app project file. If I have any luck I'll post back.
