Please direct me to the right page if I shouldn't be asking this question here.

My work history: I worked as ASP.net developer (C#, SQL Server 2005, Javascript) for around 3 years in India and then moved to Cananda in 2008. When I landed here I couldn't find software development job and ended up accepting a job in an international bank doing operational work at a senior level position. My job doesn't involve any software programming but I have kept myself in touch with .Net technologies by creating websites to put into my Resume.

Now I seriously want to switch to a software development job and need some guidance to get started.. My questions are:

How many web projects do I need to include in my resume to justify the gap in my programming career?

What other technologies do I need to learn in addition to mentioned above?

Is it too late to switch career now?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Great thanks in advance.
2012-03-06T06:25:03-05:004865686http://forums.asp.net/p/1777064/4865686.aspx/1?Re+Asp+net+career+advice+neededRe: Asp.net career advice needed
Hi,

it's never too late for a career change but I would suggest you create websites and put these online or start up or contribute to an open source project.

I don't know if you learned yourself jQuery but I strongly suggest you take a look at it. Also learn MVC and design patterns.

Grz, Kris.
2012-03-06T07:13:14-05:004866945http://forums.asp.net/p/1777064/4866945.aspx/1?Re+Asp+net+career+advice+neededRe: Asp.net career advice needed Kris, Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I would definitely take a look into JQuery more seriously as I've only used it once for some slideshow stuff. I've no idea about MVC but sure would work on that too. Hopefully things will work out soon for me. Thanks again. -Jarnail 2012-03-06T19:39:41-05:00
