Cannot connect to IIS Remotely

hi all,

I am trying to setup IIS Remote Manager Access for a user, but I always get an error message "401 UnAuthorized".

I have performed all the steps described on http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/158/remote-administration-for-iis-manager/, but still, everytime I want to connect, the same error message comes back.

Let's say I have a user called myUser. If I grant "administrator"access to this user, I can connect to the IIS remotely. However, if I take off this priviledges, the error message pops up. I believe that there is a way to access the IIS remotely without needing to grant administrator access.

Please advise.

Have you actually "allow" the user on the IIS?

in order for you to be able to connect remotely via IIS Manager, there are 3 things you need to make sure:

1. You must have the correct user on your Windows Server. The user can be created on the Computer Management section
2. You must set the IIS Manager User to allow this user
3. You must add this user on the IIS Manager Permission
4. This user must have a permission to access the working folder.
