Is dynamic data support vanishing?

If that were the case I'd ask the following: Is dynamic data support vanishing? Will it be part of VS2011? Are there migrating tools from dynamic data to another environment? How much can be rescued from dynamic data into something new?

scaffolding has been of great use for me so please don't throw it away. most of my testing applications became serious deployed live applications with not really much effort. must add we didn't really had to customize much so there were not much fuzz in doing it

now we're needing to customize but we don't really find proper ways to get were we want to. not really much documentation on intermediate to advanced cases

As far as I can tell, dynamic data is being consumed into webforms and asp.net mvc...there's a lot of scaffolding in mvc already as well as attribute driven DisplayFor and EditorFor templates etc.

As far as I see (only until now, not meaning the last released version)You can see from the screenshot that VS2011 developer preview versionDD(Dynamic Data) is still supported but only a template of EntityFramework

But now in VS2010, there are two kinds for LINQ and Entity

Also there is a lot more new stuff comming for DD in DEV11 such as Model binding which is similar to the same in MVC

Oleg Sych doesn't also seem to be published right away too. I'm waiting since August. It seems it'll be posponed untl January, maybe

Lyl is true in a thing: there4 is nothing written for Dynamic Data from intermedaite to advanced

So, not harsh in saying that Dynamic Data seems to be waving good bye, no?

Hi Topolov, Dynamic Data IS NOT Dead it is now in MVC and Silverlight and it has become a fundamental part of Web Forms. Have a look at the new Model Binding that Scott Guthrie has posted about and Damien Edwards did a talk about at Build and you will see that it is very much alive.

There is a dead ling on the N41 Codeplex

I still think that Dynamic Data will be still supported but it is also true that it might be won't supported any longer

I could not find examples of the newer binding stuff you have mentioned in .Net 4.5

How can I reach them? I mean, the examples

see Scott Guthries blog and Damien Edwards session at Build on Channel9, plus N41 was abandoned in 2008 by the developer and in no compatible with .Net 4 or Entity Framework it only worked with .Net 3.5 and Linq to SQL, but there is some good sample code if you can download the source.

Are we clear that Dynamic Data really died? I mean, ... Naughton's says there's something going on but he haven't even published his book on this subject

I don't thinks is for the deal itself but that the deal is off time so there won't be any market for the book, isn't it?

Hi,

I really would like to know if DD is going to go or not.

In the past I have spent a lot of time and money learning Silverlight but now people do not even talk about it.

Before, Silverlight was the future and all the gurus including John Pappa, Loren Bugnion etc were talking about it.

In the last Microsoft conference they did not even mention silverlight.

Is this going to happen to Dynamic Data as well?

For some reason I do not like MVC. I think it is only a buzz but it will go soon. I think web forms will stay but I would like to know for sure if DD is going to stay.

I MUST ADD that Dynamic Data, as it is, is good enough and nobody else than Naughton has made such a contribution to sustain it than it will be really a shame if that feature is stolen from the .Net framework

At least leave as it is now

We hope that Naughton and Oleg Sych books we will have enough inorder to learn how to effectively customize it at an advanced level, WHIC IS BY THE WAY, the only real flaw of Dynamic Data ... un-knowlege (lack of really good material to learn about the product, state of the art, classy, advanced to intermediate level)

No it is not it's baked into ASP.Net and there is more comming in vNext remember DD is not a new framework like MVC is just web forms with Metadata, so MS don't go on about DD but all the new features shown at BUILD (see them here Create rich, data-driven Web apps with ASP.NET 4.5 Web Forms) work with DD. you can even enable DD in a standard Website using a simple extension method

GridView1.EnableDynamicData(typeof(Models.Product));

It's all there and will continue to be there fro a long while, also remember that although there is a big BUS about MVC ASP.Net Web Forms has more uses by a big margine.

Thar DB should be in the download as a create database SQL script.

Yes you are right. However it is only the script to create the DB not to fill the DB with data.

There is a separate excel spreasheet to fill the DB with data but I am strugling to do it.

There is also another database that you used in your security/Role permission serias that I cannot find anywhere. You mention on your tutorial that you created the roles in the datase and if someone needed the DB you could email it.I would appreciate if you could email them to my email.
