Currently I have it hosted in Godaddy, but I would like to have it in Azure.

Godaddy web hosting cost around $8 per month. I was hoping to find something similar in Azure. Does anyone have a suggestion?
2011-09-02T18:42:40-04:004581491http://forums.asp.net/p/1716832/4581491.aspx/1?Re+How+to+choose+my+azure+planRe: How to choose my azure plan
Hi,

take a look at this calculator: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsazure/pricing-calculator/.

If you want to have an SLA for having your application up and running you need at least 2 instances running. You'll want a small instance so that boils down to $127 / month.

Take into account bandwidth, cache, storage, ... and you'll end up paying more than that.

However if you have a MSDN subscription you can get 1500 hours / month for free, with which you can run those 2 instances already: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsazure/msdn-benefits/. Of course that requires you to have MSDN ultimate which is also quite costly.

Grz, Kris.

2011-09-02T20:16:49-04:004581502http://forums.asp.net/p/1716832/4581502.aspx/1?Re+How+to+choose+my+azure+planRe: How to choose my azure plan
So basically Azure is just an option for enterprise?

I looked at the calculater and all the options I saw there was too expensive for what I need.

Seems like Godaddy is a much better option for me as it as unlimited broadband, MS SQL 2008 R2, and .Net 4.

2011-09-02T20:40:50-04:004581692http://forums.asp.net/p/1716832/4581692.aspx/1?Re+How+to+choose+my+azure+planRe: How to choose my azure plan
Hi,

jsucupira
So basically Azure is just an option for enterprise?

No, not really. But you have weigh the pros vs the cons before moving. Cloud computing, not just Windows Azure, has several interesting pros like pay per use, or only renting servers for a week instantly and after that period don't want to anymore or when you expect unforseen loads and want autoscaling within 20 minutes and triple the amount of servers you need without having to install things yourself.

If you only want to host a simple website which doesn't require all of the above or other key scenarios where cloud computing shines and stands out, then you're likely better off by hosting with a standard hosting company.

Grz, Kris.
2011-09-03T05:36:53-04:00
