Visual Studio 2005 SP1, ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 RC1 and .NET Framework 3.0

Hi,

There has been a flood of releases of Betas, RC1s and SP and it is quite natural that we get confused on what to install on what operating system and the requisites.

Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 SP1 users

Visual Studio 2005 SP1 (Covers the Web Application Project, Web Deployment Project and other issues)

ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 RC ( Provides Microsoft Ajax Library, ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Controls and optional Control Toolkit, December CTP)

.NET Framework 3.0 (Provides runtime for WPF, WCF, WF & WCS)

Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for .NET Framework 3.0 (Building Workflow Enabled Applications using WF)

Windows Vista Users

Visual Studio 2005 SP1 (Covers the Web Application Project, Web Deployment Project and other issues)

Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Update for Windows Vista (Fixes some of the elevation priveleges issues with Windows Vista)

Follow the steps in Mike's Post for solving the Debugging Issues on Windows Vista

ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 RC ( Provides Microsoft Ajax Library, ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Controls and optional Control Toolkit, December CTP)

The .NET Framework 3.0 comes shipped along with Windows Vista so doesnt need to be downloaded.

Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for .NET Framework 3.0 (Building Workflow Enabled Applications using WF)

'Web Site Project' option not available on Vista

I have Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Professional installed on Vista Business edition. I have also applied the SP1 Update for Vista.

Visual Studio now only allows me to create or open Web Application projects. The 'Web Site' project is not available.

Is this normal?

Hi,

Do you mean to say the "Website" template is missing?

Did you check in "File - New - Website" option and check if the "ASP.NET Website" option is still there or missing?

In my machine I have this same issue [:(] I can't understand how this hapenned!!!!

Today I was create a new Web Project and I was surprized when I couldn't see the the Web Site Template!!!

How can to fix this?

Perhaps installing the SP1 would solve this problem????

My O.S. is XP SP2

Do you mean to say, when you select "File - New - Website" you are missing ASP.NET Website template?

Same here, after installing VS 2005 and SP1, there is no longer a ASP.NET Website template in the File | new Website. I only have an option for creating a WAP based website which is NOT what I want. VERY INCONVENIENT, ANNOYING, ETC. this is delaying me....anyone know how the hell to get it back into VS?

If you have installed the Web Application Project template earlier before installing Visual Studio 2005 SP1, please uninstall the same before installing Visual Studio 2005 SP1. Visual Studio 2005 SP1 comes bundled with the Web Applicaiton Project option.

For all those who are having issues reported in this thread, I would suggest an uninstallation of SP1, uninstallation of Web Application Project and then a reinstallation of Visual Studio 2005 SP1.

You can uninstall these from Control Panel - Add\Remove Programs

Write back if this doest solve the issue
